Montessori School of Evergreen

Michelle Leonard

Toddler Assistant

I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State University in Sociology with a Minor in Gerontology. As time went on, I found I was inspired not only to advocate for our eldest generation but also our youngest. I got my Masters's Degree in Educational Psychology from CU Denver and my Alternative Teaching License from the Friends School Teacher Preparation Program in Boulder, CO. Attending training and conferences from organizations such as International Democratic Education Network and Alternative Education Resource Organization.

I love working within the Montessori philosophy as it aligns with my values of treating children with respect and valuing their freedom. I have been working with children, mainly in Pre-K for the last 15 years. Toddler-age students are my favorite and being a part of the wonder and delight of their first experiences is such a joy. I feel very fortunate to have found a career where every day is just fun.

I asked my two sons, Huxley and Thacher, what my hobbies are. They said, “being festive and acting like a kid”. Seems pretty accurate! When I am not being festive, I enjoy hiking, skiing, fishing, art, going to see live music, going to movies/theater, reading, and traveling.
